01The short answer
A 10 to 20 yard roll-off delivered anywhere in Davenport, ChampionsGate or the wider Four Corners area from $425, no distance charge, seven days a week between 9 AM and 6 PM. Driveway drops need nothing from anybody. Street placement is worth one phone call to the city first, because Davenport does not publish its rule.
What is genuinely different about working here is not the dumpster. It is that half the addresses people call “Davenport” are unincorporated Polk County, a lot of them are behind a gate on a private road, and a large share are short-term rentals on a turnover clock.
02Davenport has roughly doubled, and it shows in the work
The 2020 census put Davenport at 9,684 people. Current estimates put it near 19,859 — better than a hundred percent growth in six years, running close to ten percent a year, on 4.4 square miles. The city is annexing north and east and averaging around 125 single-family permits a month.
That produces a specific mix of work: construction overflow on lots where the builder's own container has already gone, garage and lanai clearouts in houses barely five years old, and landscape debris from yards being finished after closing.
Paver driveways are common in the newer subdivisions out here and they mark easily under a loaded can. Boards go under the rollers on every drop as standard — you do not have to ask. If your drive is new pavers or fresh asphalt, mention it and we will take extra care with the set.
03Gated communities and private roads
This is the Davenport-specific thing worth knowing. Polk County cannot legally collect debris from a private road until the HOA officer or road owner signs a FEMA Right of Entry and Hold Harmless Agreement. The county's own shorthand: white street signs mean a private road, green means county-maintained.
That matters twice. After a storm, if your community is behind a gate and nobody signed the form, county debris crews are not coming and the HOA is on its own. And day to day, it means access to your street is the HOA's call, not the county's — so a delivery may need gate codes or a notified guard.
What we need from you
- Gate code or guard-house name, at booking, not on the day.
- Whether the HOA restricts how long a container can sit. Those are private covenants, not public code — we cannot look them up for you, and they vary street to street.
- Where the HOA allows placement. Some require it out of sight of the road.
04Vacation rentals and turnover cleanouts
Four Corners and ChampionsGate are short-term rental country — ChampionsGate is a gated, resort-style masterplan built around it. Any rental of six months or less needs a Class B county local business tax receipt alongside a state DBPR licence and tourist development tax compliance, so these are run as businesses, and they clear out like businesses: fast, scheduled, and usually between guests.
We work to that clock. A turnover cleanout is a same-window job — the crew loads, hauls and goes, rather than leaving a can sitting in front of a property that has someone checking in on Friday. If you manage several units, tell us the pattern and we will hold slots rather than making you rebook every time.
05The two things Polk County will not do for you
Curbside bulk pickup will not take your job. Unincorporated Polk curbside runs a monthly bulk collection, and it explicitly excludes construction debris, eviction and move-out clearances, trees, stumps and land-clearing debris. That exclusion is most of what a roll-off is for.
The new Haines City drop-off will not take a contractor. The Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center on Bannon Island Road opened as a pilot in June 2026 and is the closest public facility to Davenport — but it is residents only, with commercial use, including automated dump trailers, specifically not allowed. Flat fees run $10 for a car up to $27 for a large trailer, card only, proof of residency required.
Which means a roll-off truck out of Davenport does not dump in Haines City. It runs to the Polk County North Central Landfill at 7425 De Castro Road, Winter Haven, where construction and demolition debris tips at $46 a ton. That drive is in your price; we mention it only so the tonnage allowance on the rate card makes sense.
06Storm debris, and the reimbursement trap
Polk County requires storm debris to be kept separate from household waste, bulk items and routine yard waste. Mixed piles do not get collected.
Polk County does not reimburse any resident or HOA who hires a private contractor for storm debris removal. If you pay someone to clear it, that is your cost, full stop. Hiring a private hauler can be the right call when the county queue is weeks long — just go in knowing the money is not coming back.
We will haul storm debris and we will tell you honestly when waiting for the county is the cheaper option. It usually is, unless the pile is blocking something you need.
07What cannot go in the can
Polk County refuses bulk liquids, pressurised tanks, ammunition and explosives, biological waste, asbestos and radioactive material at the landfill outright. Batteries are not accepted at the scale.
Household hazardous waste goes to 5 Environmental Loop South, Winter Haven — Friday 8 to noon, Saturday 7:30 to 12:30, free to Polk residents. Car and boat batteries, fuel up to five gallons, motor oil, antifreeze, pesticides, fluorescent tubes and CFLs, paint to 20 gallons a year, flares. Electronics are capped at five components a visit. No biohazard, no sharps, no medications.
Fridges and freezers with refrigerant still in them tip at $50 a ton rather than $27.50. Tell us if one is going in and it gets priced properly.
