What we tow
First Responder Transport tows fifth wheels, travel trailers, campers, and cargo, utility and equipment trailers across Tampa, Lakeland, Plant City, Davenport and the rest of Central Florida. Send a photo, the length and both addresses, and you get a real price back, usually inside the hour.
When people call
Most RV moves are short and specific. One park to another, or into storage for the summer. A camper bought from a private seller that needs to get home. A fifth wheel going to the repair shop, or back from it. A seasonal resident arriving for the winter, or leaving in spring.
And storms. When a named storm is on the way, parks empty out and everyone wants a truck the same day. If yours has to move, call as soon as you know, not the day before landfall.
Get it ready to roll
The tow goes faster and safer when the RV is ready before the truck arrives:
- Slides in, awning stowed, antenna and steps up.
- Stabilizer jacks up and wheel chocks out.
- Power, water and sewer disconnected, and the holding tanks dumped.
- Propane off, doors, windows and roof vents shut.
- Loose things inside packed down so nothing shifts on the road.
- Tires holding air, and not cracked with age.
If something can't be done, say so when you text. A slide that won't retract or a jack that won't come up is better known before the truck is in the driveway.
Brakes and lights
Florida requires every trailer over 3,000 pounds gross to have brakes on all of its wheels, set up to apply on their own and stay on for at least 15 minutes if the trailer ever breaks away from the truck. That is section 316.261 of the Florida Statutes. Fifth wheels and most travel trailers weigh well over that line.
Tell us up front if the brakes, the breakaway switch or the lights on yours have problems. It changes how the move gets planned.
What to send for a price
- A photo of the RV or trailer, and one of the hitch.
- The type and length, and the weight from the sticker if you have it.
- Both addresses, or both towns, and anything tight about getting in or out.
- When it needs to move. Nights and weekends are fine.
The price that comes back is the price on the invoice. Nothing gets added afterwards.
Where we tow
Most of the work runs along I-4 between Tampa and Davenport, and down to Bradenton.
Questions people ask
How much does it cost to tow an RV?
It depends on the distance, the size of the RV and the access at both ends. Send a photo, the length and both addresses and you get a fixed price back, usually inside the hour.
Do you tow fifth wheels?
Yes. Fifth wheels hitch in the bed of the Ram 3500.
Can you move my RV to another park or into storage?
Yes. Park to park, park to storage and storage to the repair shop are the most common moves.
Does my camper need working brakes?
In Florida, any trailer over 3,000 pounds gross needs brakes on all wheels that apply automatically if it breaks away (s. 316.261). Most RVs are over that weight, so tell us if yours has a brake problem.
Can you move an RV before a hurricane?
Yes, as long as there is time to do it. Call as soon as you know it has to move. The day before landfall, everyone is calling.
What areas do you cover?
Tampa, Plant City, Thonotosassa, Lakeland, Auburndale, Davenport and Bradenton most often, and the rest of Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, Lake and Orange counties.
